First Week of Lent

Television, Music and Media
This week, we will be fasting television, music and other media. Suggested ways of doing this is to not watch your usual television shows, or turn off the TV altogether. Drive without the radio. Leave the iPod at home.
Pay attention to the following: What is it like to increase the silence by decreasing the media inputs into your life? Do you miss it? Does it make you anxious? Relaxed? Something else?
What does your reaction to this fast tell you about your connectedness to media?
Keep journal entries of what silence does for you, what missing certain shows/events means to you.
In this week’s devotional, we will join Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. The garden is a place where each of us must go if we are to follow Christ. It is in the garden that we learn the joy of surrender and the art of submission.
